Director Sharry Miller, our representative from Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corp. (PWSAC), has accepted a position with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) in its Valdez office, so will no longer be on our board. We understand a replacement will be announced for her in the near future. We wish Sharry all the best in her new position, and look forward to working with her in her new role with ADEC.

The Alaska Ocean Observing System is sponsoring a four week field experiment in August 2007 to evaluate regional forecast models for wind, waves and ocean circulation in Prince William Sound.

Alyeska reported that on Monday, June 19, 30 gallons of crude oil spilled inside one of several containment dikes surrounding ballast water treatment tanks at the Valdez terminal. It appears the spill was from a leak in the recovered crude piping. Alyeska is investigating, and the council will monitor the issue.

North Slope crude oil spill, March 2: PWSRCAC is not involved in the spill cleanup since it is on the North Slope, but we are monitoring this in terms of impacts to inventory at the Valdez Marine Terminal.
