Citizens' council web site honored

The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council web site (www.pwsrcac.org) has been selected as an Official Honoree for the 10th Annual Webby Awards.

The Webby Awards, announced today, are the leading international awards honoring excellence in web design, creativity, usability and functionality. They are judged and presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a 500-member body of leading web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.

Of the more than 5,500 entries submitted to this year’s awards, fewer than 20 percent were distinguished as Official Honorees. The council web site placed beside others such as Public Broadcasting Service, British Broadcasting Corp., and the National Geographic Society.

The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council is an independent non-profit corporation whose mission is to promote environmentally safe operation of the Valdez Marine Terminal and the oil tankers that use it. The council's work is guided by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, and its contract with Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. The council's 18 member organizations are communities in the region affected by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, as well as aquaculture, commercial fishing, environmental, Native, recreation, and tourism groups.
