CROSS THE GULF LATE MARCH, 1989
Nancy Yaki, Los Olivos, California
“The intent in my piece is to recreate a 3-step visual event that expreses the full emotional impact the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill had on me the morning I discovered this unforgettable and tragic event at sea. This piece was created in November 2008.”
Nancy Yaki’s body of work ranges from photorealistic detail to bold non-representation. Never content to repeat herself, Nancy morphs easily through media and ideas. Her works have been published internationally on book covers, calendars, datebooks and greeting cards, and many periodicals including American Artist and Art in America. After leaving Alaska in 2005, Nancy spent two years in the Arizona desert before settling in Los Olivos, California where she currently teaches fine art at Dunn School.
