ELEANOR (2007)

Video

My video, Eleanor, is named after a native Alaskan woman I interviewed 6 months after the Exxon Valdez disaster. I traveled to her village of Port Graham, Alaska to conduct the interview in September 1990. Her moving story of sorrow and the resiliency of the human spirit laid the foundation for the art video you see today.

Since 1983, Boston-based videographer/editor Tim Geers has been developing an exceptionally diverse professional portfolio. Geers’ beautifully shot video draws together both documentary and experimental elements.  For his professional broadcast work, he has won several Emmy Awards, a Cine Golden Eagle and numerous Boston Press and Associated Press awards. His clients include WCVB-TV Boston, CNN, ESPN, ABC World News Tonight, CBS News, Good Morning America, FOX SportsNet, Major League Baseball, Discovery Networks, Access Hollywood, Arts and Entertainment Network and Entertainment Tonight.

In the past 3 years, Geers returned to graduate school and was awarded an MFA in visual art. The result is a seamless blend of his photographic expertise with aesthetic, artistic concerns. His video art shows a consistency of poetic vision, spirit, and purpose. Through suspended moments of reflection and anticipation, Geers explores the difficult-to-define emotions engendered by the stresses of his work as a documentary and news videographer. Together with his 25 years of professional broadcast work, his art background creates a unique and vital addition to his technical expertise.
