FOOTPRINT
Deland Anderson, Homer
Footprint is about the greed of the big footprint; The increasing power of the sun and the resulting ice melt in the arctic; The coming cloud of particulate from China and Russia; And of course the spill itself which stretches from the feeder lines in Prudhoe Bay into the Gulf of Alaska.
This spill was one of several that have happened during my lifetime. But it was bigger, stupider, and so more catastrophic than the others. I sense a trend here. The more remote the oil is, the less companies and govern-ments care to prevent disasters. In Alaska the footprint is headed north.
Deland Anderson lives and paints in Homer, Alaska. His unique dot style of painting often seeks a balance between the beautiful and the terrible in nature.
