RUPTURE
Annie Duffy, Fairbanks

Pivotal moments in time and "happenstance" have widespread effects upon our lives. The Exxon Valdez incident and the resulting environmental devastation were, in many ways, a direct result of a series of these moments. In this piece I seek to evoke a sense of the hull rupture, the catastrophic event that effected both nature and man so profoundly that the ramifications can still be felt today.

Annie Duffy received her M.F.A. from Pratt Institute and is currently based in Fairbanks, Alaska. Along with creating her own artwork, she is actively involved in organizing group exhibitions such as “POLARities: Aesthetics / Experiments / Observations” and is also writing about contemporary Alaskan art.
