Celia Anderson, Soldotna
“Since the time of the Exxon Valdez oil spill, I have felt the need to respond to the prevailing social and political landscape through my artwork. This piece speaks to the disconnect between people of power, whether they are in government or heading up large corporations, and the natural world and the disastrous consequences that disconnect can engender.
Celia Anderson has lived in Alaska since 1979 and has been involved in the arts on many levels including teaching with the University system for 27 years, participated in the Arts in Public Places Program, Artist in the Schools Program, Chaired the Alaska Alliance for Arts Education, Directed the “Integrate the Arts with Integrity” Summer Arts Institute and has served on many Arts and Cultural Boards. She currently directs the Art Program at Kenai Peninsula College, Kenai River Campus, in Soldotna, Alaska.
