Sunshine Color
When whales come to play,
The sunshine breaches the skies,
Color also flies.

One Step to the Ocean
Feet down below the waves
nothing makes a sound,
darker than the dampest caves
the tail begins to pound.
Carried off into the sea
the tunes of the deep blue,
a song that sings the churning tea:
a brand new flavored brew.
The sweetest drink to touch thy lips
though saltier than sweet,
into the crests the arched fin dips,
waves down below the feet.

Waiting
My heart skips a beat, I'm breathless
each time I hear a whale exhale,
astonishing greeting from the deepness.
Invisible to mere humans unless
by my kayak surfaces a curious whale,
my heart skips a beat, I'm breathless.
Eternity in these moments of sheer bliss
granted the sight of the enormous tail
announcing a dive to the deepness.
Impossibly long bodies slip past us,
are they curious? Do they tell the tale?
My heart skips a beat, I'm breathless.
We scan the horizon, though it's hopeless,
expecting a sighting, we'll generally fail
to predict a greeting from the deepness.
Then just as anticipation deserts us,
here it is! It's the whale!
My heart skips a beat, I'm breathless
miraculous greeting from the deepness.
