UPDATED INFORMATIONAs of 2pm on Friday, February 3, the Seabulk Pride was between Ninilchik and Anchor Point heading south under its own power. As previously reported, the response tugs managed to free the vessel off the beach at approximately 8:20am this morning. Six supporting vessels are escorting the tanker as it heads south. Tests of the vessel’s integrity continue as it transits south and there have been no signs of any fuel leakage during the transit. Many more details are available in the seven sitreps on ADEC's website. Pending continuing inspections and USCG approval, it has been reported that the tanker will be brought into Kachemak Bay for more in-depth inspections.
It has been reported that all three docks in the Nikiski are closed until further notice. Inspection, repairs and cleanup of the KPL dock are underway.
The SERVS tug Bullwark left Port Valdez at 6am this morning with the 450-3 barge. The Bullwark and barge were standing by in Montague Straight and as of approximately 3:15pm today they were released to return to Port Valdez. The Bullwark and barge should be back in Port Valdez sometime this evening (contradicts information in ADEC sit rep #7). The SERVS tug Sea Voyager is in the Nikiski area and plans are it will replace one of the six escorts for the Seabulk Pride later today. It is reported the Sea Voyager may remain in Cook Inlet until mitigation measures are agreed upon for that area.
This will be the final incident update from the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council unless significant developments occur. We would be interested in any feedback on the updates we have sent and on the information posted on our website. Please contact Susan Sommer at: sommer@pwsrcac.org with any comments or suggestions.
