Rob is a professional mariner with a Masters of Marine Affairs degree with practical experience as a tanker pilot. He is a maritime instructor at AVTEC – Alaska’s Institute of Technology, and has participated in many Prince William Sound research projects. He has towing experience and is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard to teach the Tankerman-Dangerous Liquids course, among others. He has also worked for the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico, which gives him insight into that industry. He has lived in Alaska for ten years. During his first two years in Seward, he was a tour boat captain during the summer season where he acquired a great appreciation for the unique flora and fauna of the Alaskan coastline, and he feels an obligation to serve to protect our seashore and ocean resources.
Rob was seated on the Council’s Board of Directors in May 2019.
