2012 Assessment Of Fire Protection Assets At VMT

Haines Fire & Risk Consulting (HFRC) was contracted to conduct a fire protection assessment for the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council. The purpose of this assessment is to verify the ability of the fire protection assets at the Valdez Marine Terminal (VMT) to control and extinguish fires to prevent and/or minimize pollution of the Prince William Sound. The fire protection assets at the VMT include fixed fire detection and suppression systems, a fire brigade operated by the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company (Alyeska) and the City of Valdez Fire Department (VFD).?The scope of this assessment was limited to onsite emergencies at the VMT and encompassed all operations between the inlets of the metering stations and the outboard flange of the ship loading arms.
