The objectives of the field program, which extended over a period of two weeks, were to: evaluate the effectiveness of SFM; perform comparisons between L-band and S-band; evaluate the custom waveguide antenna design; and, investigate the usefulness of the radar as a complement to the existing SeaScan system that has been installed and is now operating on Reef Island.
The field program took place aboard the research vessel Auklet in order to quickly move to the location of prospective radar targets. Installation aboard this vessel went smoothly, and the support of this vessel for further work is highly recommended.
