Dr. Kirk Zinck

City of Seldovia


Kirk represents the City of Seldovia. He is a lifelong Alaskan who remembers well the Exxon Valdez oil spill of 1989 and its devastating impact on the environment, inhabitants (human and animal) and the economy of the areas and many communities affected by this tragedy. Having lived and worked in numerous towns and villages in coastal Alaska, Kirk has a deep appreciation of the ocean and coastal environment. Serving on the PWSRCAC is one way to contribute to protecting the environment, preserving the opportunities and lifestyle options afforded to people who live on the coast, and ensuring that such opportunities remain available to our youth and future generations.

Service on the PWSRCAC ties into Kirk’s long-term dedication to helping people live satisfying, healthy, and interesting lives. His has worked as a counselor, counseling professor, and teacher. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist who holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy plus degrees in counseling and teaching.

Kirk enjoys many outdoor activities available near his Seldovia home. He loves to fish and enjoys hiking, hunting, and camping. He also enjoys being on the water, and exploring the fascinating variety of lagoons, bays, and beaches along Kachemak Bay and other areas near Seldovia.
