Oil Spill Region Recreational Coalition


Jim has been a resident of the Kenai Peninsula since 1971. Previously a resident of Seward, he now lives in Homer and is involved in several recreation groups and activities, including serving on the Steering Committee for the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival and is a member of both the Kachemak Bay Birder Club and Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges. Jim spends time in his small boat on Resurrection Bay and Kachemak Bay fishing, sightseeing, and birdwatching.

Jim is a career mariner who commercial fished Alaska’s coast from Ketchikan to Barrow. He also taught in the Maritime Department of Alaska Vocational Technical Center for 15 years.

Jim first joined the Board in 2013 as the representative of the City of Seward, and served as Treasurer of the Board during this time. Jim is currently the chair of the Council’s Oil Spill Prevention and Response Committee.
