Heated Oil and Under-reported Dispersants Volumes Mar MMS/Exxon Cold Water Dispersant Tests at Ohmsett
The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council (PWSRCAC) discovered that the ANS crude oil used in most of the 2002 Dispersant Effectiveness Tests in Cold Water conducted at Ohmsett was heated far above ambient water temperature (32 degrees F) immediately before being dispersed with Corexit 9527 and 9500.

The Council developed this?document to analyze Alyeska Pipeline Service Company?s (Alyeska?s) air quality permit?amendment applications for the Valdez Marine Terminal (VMT). As part of its mission to?promote the environmentally safe operation of the Valdez Marine Terminal and associated?tankers, PWSRCAC has reviewed these amendment requests to determine whether they are?consistent with state and federal regulatory requirements.
