Danielle Verna

Environmental Monitoring Project Manager

Danielle joined the Council’s staff in April 2021 as the Environmental Monitoring Program Manager, responsible for coordinating projects with the Council’s Scientific Advisory Committee. She earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Portland State University, an M.S. from Alaska Pacific University, and a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Her work has largely focused on invasive species dynamics related to commercial shipping, and she enjoys applying science to real world management and policy needs.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Danielle moved to Alaska in 2008. Outside of work, she is often traveling, reading, and spending time outside. She enjoys harvesting from land and water across Alaska’s many wild spaces and is always looking for a reason to explore new places.
